I then copied my Dark Forces installation somewhere else on my hard drive, pointed DarkXL to that, and it worked. My guess is the path was too long, so if you can't get it to work, maybe try that. For what it's worth, there does not seem to be anything unusual about the GOG version of the game.

I just tried to use DarkXL but the launcher despite having tabs that say otherwise has no option to configure anything, i have some bare bones options on the menu within the game but is not much, and with this source port you dont even have the "use" function, i press the spacebar and the character jumps instead of using stuff and opening doors Recommended Comments.

In earlier versions of the mod, most of the sprites were in Doom format, forced into its pallette. The main benefit of this is that their original palette can now be preserved.

Some notable examples. Left is the old DOOM format, right is with the original pallette. Glad you found EMUS useful.
