I am tempted to crack it open and remove the battery to shut it down then try booting it up after. Both of the devices underwent a factory data reset last week and were perfectly functional until today when I plugged them in. Has anyone encountered this issue before? Is there a simple resolution that I am overlooking here?
For the other device I plugged it into a Fast Charger and it automatically rebooted just fine. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Glad to hear you were able to reboot! Another way is to press the Power and Volume Down buttons together for about 10 seconds.
Continue holding when the screen turns blank. After a few second, it will reboot with the LG logo shown on the screen. At this point, release the Power button but continue pressing down the Volume Down button. The device will continue to reboot until normal screen comes on.
However, if you release both buttons after stage S1 , the device will go back to Firmware Update screen again. I can't get the back cover off. I have it plugged into my laptop now.
How long does it take to do this update of firmware. It is plugged in. I tried the power and volume suggestion. Plug in the charger until the charging percent icon comes on.
Then power up like normal. Kind of a bummer because I got the extra battery so I wouldn't have to use the charger on my phone, but at least this boots the phone.
Uplugging it from power to keep it from downloading, then maybe restoring power after you have the cable removed might be faster. Unplugging the power cable is always an option. But I prefer to skip a full reboot on the modems end. The quickest way to get the internet going again is to use the Cat5e cable as the switch.
As YK said, for some people the modem and router is a single device. To simplify things, disconnecting the coax or phone line from your modem is a universal way to keep your home network up while preventing internet access, regardless of your setup.
Of course, if you have a separate modem and router, you can just unplug your modems power or disconnect the modem from the router. I have a non-rooted device i have blocked updates via methods 2 and 4. If i root my device in the future will i have to re-block updates. I had been continually seeing the device rebooting to recovery because the device wants to update.
Previously I had blocked the addresses through my router and turned off updates via ADB but I think the ADB method got canceled when I updated the devices software with one of the prerooted versions you guys have. So now with that said, in settings this device still shows update 5. Maybe the settings update notification will always be there now, or possibly them dirty scoundrels have hidden the update elsewhere, different folder?
I just deleted another from cache. I also verified my router still has all the sites blocked as mentioned. Any ideas? I just wish it would stop. The fire TV reboots to recovery, and I get notifications about an update being ready to install. Updates are blocked through my router. Whilst testing settings on my router I inadvertently allowed one of my unrooted FireTV 2 boxes to download firmware 5. In the end did a factory reset before the update installed — worked like a charm, still on 5.
Now instead of stating an update is ready to install, when I check for updates it states System Update Error. It never goes to a download progress bar. Am I good? I did method 1 on rootAFTV2 5. I always decline. Every time I reboot I have to stay there and decline several times.
Later I blocked updates with router but too late. Saved me, I somehow enabled the update app through tit.
